Learn to protect yourself. Discover what you're capable of.
This is the main programme at KMI, and it is where most members spend their training life.
Krav Maga is reality-based self-defense: awareness, de-escalation, and physical skills tested under pressure. You learn what actually happens when someone is closer than you would like, and what to do about it. Not forms, not sport rules, not point scoring.
Classes are graded P1 through P5. Everyone starts at P1, including people with years of martial arts behind them, because the system has its own way of moving and it is worth learning properly. Every class drills the same foundations on purpose. Repetition is how a technique stops being something you think about and becomes something you do.
You don't get fit enough to start Krav Maga. You start Krav Maga, and get fitter. The conditioning arrives as a side effect. It is not the entry requirement.

Skills that work when it matters.
Awareness and de-escalation
Most of self-defense happens before anything physical. Reading a situation, creating distance, and leaving are trained skills, and they come first.
Defenses under pressure
Strikes, chokes, grabs, ground positions, and defenses against weapons at the higher levels. Drilled with a partner at controlled intensity until they hold up.
Composure
The part members mention most. Training to stay functional when your heart rate spikes carries into presentations, hard conversations, and late walks home.
Beginners are the normal case.
Most KMI members had zero martial arts experience when they walked in. Every age, size and fitness level trains in the same room, and the coaches are hired as much for how they teach as for what they know.
If you have trained before, the higher grades and the Black Belt Program are where you will end up. You still start at P1.
It all starts with an induction.
