Krav Maga KMI NYC
The Krav Maga Institute NYC holds daily reality-based and effective self-defense classes all over New York City. Krav Maga is not a traditional martial art. It’s not competitive, and there are no rules, belts, katas or rings. It is a modern and practical form of self-defense designed for the streets, bars and nightclubs and for those trips abroad. It focuses on battle-tested, easy-to-learn techniques, strength and aggression building, and realistic training.
A typical lesson includes an aerobic and anaerobic combat fitness warm up before tackling techniques. Class is a social and supportive environment to help students learn techniques based on natural functional movements and reactions. These are reinforced through stress and aggression drills that test your ability to use techniques you have learned under pressure. Testing your ability to remember and perform the learned techniques under mental or physical stress is paramount. Stress training allows you to remember what you have learned when it really counts and helps students react better to an actual assault.
Krav Maga consists of practical techniques derived from boxing, Muay Thai, Wing Chun, Judo, jiu-jitsu, wrestling, grappling, and street fighting. Modern Israeli self defense classes focus on building self-confidence, practical fitness – including stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy – and acquiring knowledge while learning practical and easy-to-learn self defense techniques. The skills learned in classes help improve the quality of your day-to-day life.
